I’m aware this is an emotive topic for many people, however I’ve lived and worked in the West Matukituki Valley in Mt Aspiring National Park where it’s been applied and I’ve witnessed first hand the benefits. For the moment it’s the only tool NZ has [followed up with intense trapping] for it’s very unique native bird/predator relationship. If it’s not used then within a decade or to we’ll lose species we love. My hope is that sooner rather than later new technologies will be come into use.
